Acura was first introduced to North Americans in 1986. Since that time, this automotive brand has been revered for the innovative and luxurious vehicles that it produces. Acura has a wide range of vehicles that are able to suit almost anyone's needs. However, if you are looking for a spacious, sporty, and luxurious SUV, then you need to look no further than the Acura MDX.
This year, the Acura MDX is a stunning three-row SUV that comes with a wide range of high-end amenities. This year, the 2022 MDX has revived several updates that help to make it more impressive than ever before. To show you just how impressive this vehicle truly is, we have decided to compare it to another popular luxury SUV. Here is a look at how the 2022 Acura MDX compares to the 2022 Lexus RX.
What's New for 2022?
This year, the MDX has received a complete makeover from the ground up. The exterior has been redesigned and the interior now features a more contemporary appearance. There is also new high-tech equipment and some innovative safety features. LED headlights and taillights now come standard to ensure that other drivers are able to clearly see your vehicle no matter what time of the day, or night, it is driving down the road.
The 2022 RX only receives a few minor updates this year. There are three new exterior paint colours that are offered this year, including Grecian Water, Cloudburst Grey, and Iridium. The exterior now also features a standard set of fog lamps.
Interior Design Comparison
The MDX's high-class interior is spacious and luxurious. The cabin features three rows of spacious seating and provides plenty of legroom for all three rows. The cabin is also adorned in premium materials, including leather upholstery and open-pore wood trim with piano-black accents. There is also a wide range of comfort features including standard heated front seats and dual-zone automatic climate control.
Sitting proudly on top of the dash of the 2022 Acura MDX is a large 12.3-inch infotainment display that can be easily controlled using the conveniently placed touchpad that is located on the centre console. The display comes equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as a built-in navigation system. There is also a standard 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster that is fully customizable.
The RX also has a luxurious interior that features its own set of premium materials, including genuine leather upholstery and real wood trim. However, the second and third-row passengers do not get as much legroom. Third-row passengers will especially feel cramped.
The RX also comes standard with an 8-inch touchscreen display, but a 12.3-inch display is available. Both displays offer Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. However, if you want a built-in navigation system, that is only offered on the larger display.
Power and Performance
The Acura MDX offers two powerful engine options. The standard 3.5-litre V6 engine is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and delivers 290 horsepower. The available 3.0-litre V6 engine is able to deliver up to 355 horsepower.
The Lexus RX comes standard with the same 3.5-litre V6 engine that delivers 290 horsepower.
